Philadelphia, PA – Lightning Softball shuts out Chestnut Hill
The Lightning softball team traveled to Philadelphia, to face off against Chestnut Hill College yesterday in a CACC double header. The Lightning went on the board in the top of the 2nd inning as Shannon O’Hara led off with a single down the left field line. Five more singles by Leah Bowman, Kim Narkiewicz, Jordan Waterloo, Lauren Witzke and Ashley Paige gave the Lightning a 3-0 lead, and ultimately the win in the first game.
Pitcher Heather Draper pitched a complete game, with 9 strikeouts and only surrendered two hits. Lauren Witzke and Jordan Waterloo each went 2-3 with an RBI. Danielle Rice led defensively for the Lightning with 8 putouts.
In the second game, the Lightning scored 2 in the first inning, and never looked back as they took game two 8-0. Lauren Witzke and Cailin Cavanaugh each went 2-3 with 2 RBI’s, and Sadie Jones pitched a complete game shutout, striking out 6 batters. Lauren Witzke led defensively for the Lightning, with 7 putouts.
The Lightning will next host Dominican College on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 1:00pm.
