Wilmington, DE – Lightning Golf receive at-large bid to the NCAA Championship Regional Championship
The Lightning men's golf team has been selected to participate in the NCAA Regional Championship, at the Glade Springs Resort Golf Club in Beckley, West Virginia, on May 4-6, 2009.
The Lightning, currently ranked fourth in the NCAA Northeast Region, will return to the Regional Championship for the fourth time in the five years. Justin Grossman, a graduate student from Dover, Delaware, will compete in his third NCAA Championship Tournament, while Rob Hunt, a senior from Wilmington, Delaware, will be making his second appearance. Hunt and Grossman are joined by Tyler Harman, a freshman from Dover, Pennsylvania, Wes Hood, a sophomore from Chesapeake City, Maryland, and Erik Tammsalu, a sophomore from Toronto, Canada.
Eighty teams and thirty-two individuals have been selected to participate in the eight regional tournaments of the 2009 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships. The top five teams and the top two individuals will advance to the NCAA Finals May 19-22, 2009 in Blaine, Washington.
