Box score

Daniels, West Virginia – Lightning Golf finish season 15th at NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Championship

For the past three days, the Lightning men's golf team competed in the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Tournament at the Glade Springs Resort Golf Club.

On the first day of competition, sophomore Erik Tammsalu and freshman Tyler Harman led the team with a pair of 79s.  Sophomore Wes Hood was directly behind them with an 80, while graduate student Justin Grossman came in with an 82 and senior Rob Hunt followed in with an 83.  The Lightning sat in 13th position after day one, with a score of 320, just four shots out of fifth (the top five advances to the National Championship).

Weather delays limited the Lightning to only few holes on day two.

Day three started early for the Lightning as they had to complete their second round.  The Lightning struggled through round two, scoring a 326 as a team.  Tyler Harman led the Lightning individually with a 78 and Wes Hood next, with an 81.  Justin Grossman followed with an 83, while Erik Tammsalu and Rob Hunt both shot 84's for the second round.  The Lightning slipped down to 15th position after the second round.

The third round showed some improvement for the Lightning as they hit the links for the last time.  Erik Tammsalu and Justin Grossman each produced 79's for their final round.  Rob Hunt was next in with an 81.  Tyler Harman shot an 85 for his final round, while Wes Hood shot an 87.  The Lightning's 324 round three score however, did not help move them up in the rankings and the Lightning finished in 15th position.

Erik Tammsalu and Tyler Harman both finished in a tie for 51st position with a three-day total of 242.  Justin Grossman finished in a tie for 64th place with a 244 total.  Rob Hunt and Wes Hood both finished in a tie for 80th position with three-day totals of 248.
