INDIANAPOLIS – The Goldey-Beacom College men’s basketball team earned a No. 9 ranking in the latest NCAA Division II East Region poll, released today by the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Committee.

The committee releases the top-10 rankings for each of the eight regions on Wednesdays every week. It began releasing the rankings last week and will continue through Mar. 3. This week’s top-10 poll includes teams’ records through Sun., Jan. 31, and it marks the first officially released top-10 ranking the Lightning have had this season.

GBC had just come off a very impressive 88-61 victory over Bloomfield College on Jan. 30 to improve to 14-4 before the rankings were voted on. The Lightning have since lost to Chestnut Hill College, 82-70 on Feb. 2.

Other schools from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference that cracked the top-10 regional ranking were Bloomfield College (No. 7) and Philadelphia University (No. 10).

The Lightning are back in action on Thurs. night at 8 p.m. when they host CACC foe University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USP) at the Jones Center.
