Goldey-Beacom today placed five student-athletes on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll.
Â
Junior Amina Mrad (Berlin, Germany) and freshman Merel Ann van Zanten (Velserbroek, Netherlands) were picked from women's tennis, senior Aaron Easter (Elkton, MD) was tabbed from men's cross country, Megan Harvis (Delran, NJ) was selected from women's soccer and fellow senior Dan Bennett (Pittsgrove, NJ) made it from men's soccer.
Â
Mrad had little trouble in posting two victories Tuesday over University of the Sciences. She and junior Pauline Rozet (Malakoff, Spain) cruised to an 8-0 victory at second doubles and Mrad then got a 7-5, 6-3 win over Abbygail Gamarnik at second singles, helping GBC to an 8-1 rout.
Â
Van Zanten also got a pair of victories Tuesday and her second league nod, three weeks after being named CACC Player and Rookie of the Week. She and junior Nina Sengl (Puchheim, Germany) recorded an 8-2 win at first doubles and van Zanten then rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Andria Dang at No. 5 singles to move to 9-2 at singles.
Â
Easter again was a force for Goldey-Beacom, closing the Jack St. Clair Memorial in fourth place in 28:33.3 to help his squad end third. It was his third top-four finish of the year and the third straight week he has made the league's honor roll.
Â
Harvis scored twice and added an assist Saturday in Goldey-Beacom's 5-0 victory at Concordia (NY). She scored the Lightning's first goal of the match and then tallied the squad's fourth goal to give her 29 career points. Her assist was the 11th of her career, moving her into a tie for seventh place in school history.
Â
Bennett scored three goals on the week. He had one Thursday against West Chester that brought the Lightning within 2-1 and knocked home two penalty kicks Saturday at Concordia (NY) to close his squad within 3-2.
