Runciman and Martinez Each Named to CACC Weekly Honor Roll

Big goals and important play from Amy Runciman (Luton, England) on the women's soccer team and fellow sophomore Alvaro Martinez (Zaragoza, Spain) on the men's side put each on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Runciman got her second such honor of the year after finishing the week with three goals and an assist over two games to help GBC clinch a spot in the CACC Tournament.  She had two goals and an assist Saturday in her squad's 6-0 victory over Bloomfield that secure the bid and extended her points streak to four games.  Runciman also scored on a penalty kick Wednesday at Wilmington (DE).
 
It has been a standout campaign for this promising star, who is sixth in the country with nine assists this season and 29th with 27 points.  She has 15 career assists that are tied with senior Megan Harvis (Delran, NJ) for third best in school history and her 37 points are one outside the top 10.
 
Runciman's nine goals this year are tied for sixth best in GBC history, her nine assists are tied for fourth and her 27 points are fourth.
 
Martinez scored a huge goal Saturday to keep Goldey-Beacom's hopes of making the CACC Tournament alive in a 1-0 victory over Bloomfield.  Sophomore Manuel Berto (Valencia, Spain) had a free kick from the right side that was perfectly placed in the box and Martinez re-directed it home for his first collegiate goal.
 
The women's team (7-8, 5-6 CACC) is locked into the eighth seed and on Tuesday will host Holy Family.  The men's side (6-11, 4-7) needs to defeat Holy Family on Wednesday to keep alive its chances of making the league tournament.
