Five for Goldey-Beacom Tabbed for CACC Weekly Honors

A week that featured a number one seed clinched and several big victories saw five of Goldey-Beacom's student-athletes gain Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference weekly honors.
 
Senior Francesca Beg (Westbury, England) was picked the women's tennis Player of the Week, freshman Alma Garcia Valle (Valladolid, Spain) was named to the team's Weekly Honor Roll, Lindsay Przywara (Williamstown, NJ) was tabbed volleyball's Rookie of the Week, senior Grace McCarthy (Middletown, DE) was picked to the team's Weekly Honor Roll and senior Amy Runciman (Luton, England) made the women's soccer Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Beg went 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles in leading GBC to the top seed for the CACC Tournament.  She got a tiebreaker victory Tuesday against Chestnut Hill at third singles before rolling to straight-set wins Thursday at University of the Sciences in No. 3 singles and Friday vs. Post at second doubles.  Beg, who made the league's Weekly Honor Roll on September 26, also teamed with senior Nina Sengl (Puchheim, Germany) for a trio of wins at No. 1 doubles.
 
Beg is 6-0 this season in doubles, all at first doubles, and 5-1 in singles that includes a 2-0 mark at second doubles.  The Lightning's 6-0 start in the league equals their school record from 2010 and 2012.  The 6-0 overall start is their best since opening 8-0 in 2010-11.
 
Garcia Valle went 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles.  She did not drop a set Tuesday vs. Chestnut Hill at fourth singles, defeated University of the Sciences on Thursday at No. 4 singles and won in straight sets Friday vs. Post at third singles.  Garcia Valle, who also made the Weekly Honor Roll on September 12, also paired with freshman Silvia Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) for three victories at No. 3 doubles.
 
Garcia is 6-0 this season at singles, including a 4-0 mark at fourth singles, and 5-0 in doubles will all coming at No. 3 doubles.
 
Przywara finished with 42 kills and 31 digs over four matches for her second Weekly Honor Roll pick this season.  She totaled 14 kills and nine digs Wednesday vs. Wilmington (DE), 12 kills Saturday at Concordia (NY) and 12 digs Tuesday at Millersville.
 
Przywara is seventh in the league with 3.16 kills per set and is tied for fourth on the squad with 13 aces.
 
McCarthy closed with 40 kills, 21 digs and 11 aces over four matches.  Her highlights included 14 kills, eight digs and six aces Wednesday in a big win vs. Wilmington (DE) to go with 11 kills and six digs Saturday at Concordia (NY).
 
McCarthy, who also made the Weekly Honor Roll on September 12, is fifth in the conference with 3.49 kills per set and first with 0.76 aces per set (34 total).
 
Runciman, a member of the Weekly Honor Roll on September 19, had two goals and three assists over two games.  All of her points came Wednesday in Goldey-Beacom's 10-0 rout at Lincoln (PA).
 
In yet another accumulation of her solid numbers, Runciman is fourth in school history with 57 points and tied for sixth with 17 goals.  She is sixth in the country with seven assists, 15th with 0.58 assists per game, 47th with 17 points and 66th with 1.42 points per contest.
