Bruno Named CACC Player of the Week; Bartlette Picked Rookie of the Week

A perfect week on the basketball court combined between the men's and women's teams enabled the squads to take home a combined four weekly awards as presented by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
 
The women's side saw junior Lexi Bruno (Millville, NJ) named Player of the Week and freshman Nina Bartlette (Winthrop, MA) picked the Rookie of the Week.  The men's squad saw senior Parris Ridgeway-Higgs (New Castle, DE) named the league's Defensive Player of the Week and senior Riyan Williams (Dunkirk, MD) selected to the Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Bruno had an incredible week with 29.0 points per game on 51 percent shooting (21-of-41), 8.0 rebounds per contest, 4.5 assists per game, seven 3-pointers and five steals over two games.  Bruno on Saturday equaled her career high with 30 points on 12-of-22 shooting to go with seven rebounds, five assists and four 3-pointers in the Lightning's 71-62 win at Holy Family.  She also had 28 points on 9-of-19 shooting, nine rebounds, four assists and three 3-pointers in Goldey-Beacom's 69-57 victory over Georgian Court.
 
One of the nation's most explosive and prolific players, Bruno is 27th in the country with 19.3 points per game, 19th with 56 baskets, 32nd with 35.75 minutes per contest, 42nd with 21 made 3-pointers, 68th with 34 assists and 91st with 4.3 assists per game.  She also is eighth in school history with 1,123 points, second with 324 assists, third with 149 three-pointers, fifth with 133 steals and seventh with 403 baskets.
 
Bartlette averaged 9.0 points on 8-of-12 shooting and 6.0 rebounds over two games.  She had 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting and seven rebounds Saturday at Holy Family after getting eight points on 4-of-5 shooting and five rebounds Wednesday vs. Georgian Court.
 
A budding presence in the frontcourt, Bartlette is third on the team with 5.1 points per game, second with a .471 shooting percentage and third with 4.3 rebounds per contest over just 14.6 minutes per game.
 
Ridgeway-Higgs ended the week averaging 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals over two games.  He closed Wednesday against Georgian Court with eight rebounds and two steals to go with seven assists and 10 points in an 80-50 win.  That impressive effort paled in comparison to Saturday, when he had seven rebounds, five steals, 14 points and nine assists at Holy Family in a 92-62 triumph.
 
A reliable player in all facets, Ridgeway-Higgs leads the CACC and is 55th in the country with 5.1 assists per game in addition to being 25th in the nation with a 3.18 assist-to-turnover ratio.  He is tied for ninth in school history with 192 career assists, just outside the top 10 with 85 three-pointers and has 592 career points.
 
Williams averaged 15.0 points on 13-of-24 shooting, 6.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals over two games.  He started his week with 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting, five assists, four rebounds and two steals Wednesday vs. Georgian Court.  Williams closed it Saturday with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting, nine rebounds, six assists and two steals Saturday at Holy Family.
 
Williams is 32nd in the conference with 11.6 points per game, 10th with a .400 three-point percentage, 15th with a .470 shooting percentage and 41st with 4.3 rebounds per contest.
 
Both teams are home Tuesday against Chestnut Hill with the women going at 6:00 pm and the men at 8:00 pm.
