Goldey-Beacom sophomore Lexi Bruno (Millville, NJ) already has received national acclaim, but she got more Wednesday in a Hero Sports article which ranks her the top Division II Women's Basketball Player shorter than five feet, five inches.

The list can be found by clicking here.

Bruno, in her interview with Sara Schlagel, talks about her motivation and adaptation in her role with the Lightning despite standing just five feet, four inches.

"I grew up needing to play bigger than I was, because I was always the smallest player on the court," Bruno said.  "I never really thought about being small as a disadvantage.  I think that when taller players guard me, it's more difficult for them because I'm smaller and lower - which means I am quicker.  I've had to work on different types of ways to score and pass."

The 2015 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Year and second team all-league pick has been named this season the league's Player of the Week twice and to the Weekly Honor Roll six times.  The dynamic playmaker who makes everyone around her better has 831 career points that are ninth on the school's list, 258 assists that are third and 116 three-pointers that are tied for third.

Continuing to be among the nation's elite, Bruno is 12th in the country with 112 assists, 20th with 745 minutes played, 21st with 5.3 assists per game, 33rd with 133 field goals, 33rd with a 2.07 assist-to-turnover ratio, 39th with 49 steals, 43rd with 51 three-pointers and 59th with 17.3 points per contest.

Goldey-Beacom is home Wednesday against defending-league-champion Holy Family, starting at 6:00 pm.
