Three for Goldey-Beacom Selected to CACC Weekly Honor Roll

After impressive weeks for both of Goldey-Beacom's basketball teams, sophomore Lexi Bruno (Millville, NJ), freshman Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ) and junior Parris Ridgeway-Higgs (New Castle, DE) each were named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Bruno again went on a tear by averaging 16.5 points, 6.0 assists, 4.5 steals and 3.0 rebounds over two games.  She scored 19 points to go with six assists, six steals and four rebounds Wednesday in a hard-fought 79-71 loss to reigning-league-champion Holy Family.  Bruno also had 14 points, six assists, three steals and two rebounds Saturday in the team's big 64-47 triumph over Concordia (NY).
 
Her second-straight star-spangled season has her 12th in the country with 124 assists, 17th with 5.4 assists per game, 19th with 58 steals, 20th with 813 minutes played, 27th with a 2.14 assist-to-turnover ratio, 31st with 146 baskets, 33rd with 2.52 steals per contest, 49th with 54 made three-pointers and 56th with 17.3 points per game.
 
Again making her ascent in the GBC record book, the 2015 CACC Rookie of the Year is ninth in school history with 864 points, third with 119 three-pointers and third with 270 assists.  Her 124 assists this season are just 22 off her own team record.
 
Taite nailed a huge 3-pointer with 17 seconds left in Goldey-Beacom's big 79-76 victory Saturday over Concordia (NY).  He ended that contest with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, five steals, four assists, four 3-pointers and two rebounds.  Taite also had seven points, seven rebounds and two assists Wednesday in a tough 64-53 setback to Holy Family.
 
He is 22nd in the country with 45 steals, 32nd with 2.05 steals per game, 21st in the CACC with 13.3 points per contest, 11th with a .786 free throw percentage, 17th with 2.7 assists per game and 35th with a .410 shooting percentage.
 
Ridgeway-Higgs averaged 16.0 points on 12-of-21 shooting, 3.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds and hit eight 3-pointers over two games.  He had 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, four rebounds, four 3-pointers and three assists Wednesday against Holy Family before getting a season-best 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting, three assists and two rebounds Saturday vs. Concordia (NY).
 
He is averaging 5.3 points per game on 46 percent shooting and 1.9 rebounds per contest this season.
 
The men's team (8-15, 6-8 CACC) and the women's squad (7-16, 7-7) each are tied with Chestnut Hill in their respective standings for the league's fourth and final conference tournament bid from the South Division with five games left.
 
Goldey-Beacom is home Thursday against Dominican (NY) with the women playing at 5:00 pm and the men at 7:00 pm.
