Goldey-Beacom once again saw its student-athletes cited by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with four garnering weekly honors.

Junior Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany) was picked Men's Soccer's Player of the Week with freshman Alejandro Varela (Cali, Colombia) named to the Weekly Honor Roll, freshman Catarina Zheng (Oporto, Portugal) was tabbed to the Women's Tennis Weekly Honor Roll and junior Jono Hooper (Brisbane, Australia) got the same honor for Men's Cross Country.

Aghrim ended with a goal and four assists for six points over two games.  He had two assists Tuesday in a 2-2 draw at Jefferson and then had a goal and two assists in Goldey-Beacom's 6-2 rout Saturday of Nyack.

Aghrim's six goals, nine assists and 21 points so far this season match the totals from his first two years combined.  He now is fourth in school history with 18 assists and sixth with 42 points.

Varela scored twice Saturday to give four goals on the season and his first career brace.  This gives the Lightning four players with at least four goals on the year.

GBC (9-3-1, 5-2-1 CACC) sits tied for third with Georgian Court (5-2-1) for third place in the league.  These teams face each other Wednesday in Lakewood, NJ.

Zheng won her lone singles and doubles match last week at Chestnut Hill.  She recorded a 6-4, 6-4 win over Nicola Guzowska at second singles after teaming with freshman Lotte Lesscher y Post (Arnhem, Netherlands) for an 8-1 victory over Barbara Broville and Mia Covic at first doubles.

Zheng now is 10-1 in doubles, all with Lesscher y Post, and 9-1 in singles.  This has GBC (7-0, 6-0) tied in winning percentage with Concordia-NY (7-0) atop the league.

Hooper ended seventh in 27:08 on Saturday to spark Goldey-Beacom at the CNU Invitational.  It was his fourth top-20 finish of the year and second top-10 showing.

It also was Goldey-Beacom's last meet before it hosts the CACC Championship on October 22 in Newark, DE.
