Junior Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany) put his name among the elite in Goldey-Beacom College Athletics history with yet another award, this time seeing him tabbed first team Conference Commissioner's Association Men's Soccer All-America.

Aghrim becomes just the second student-athlete in school history picked All-America and the first to gain first-team honors.  He joins Michael Tobiason, a GBC Athletics and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Hall of Fame inductee who was named Honorable Mention in 2006 by the Golf Coaches Association of American.

Aghrim the last three seasons at midfield has made himself one of the most dangerous players on the field and one who opponents immediately have to keep their eyes on.  His quickness, ability to beat players in one-on-one situations, passing ability and scoring touch make him a threat at any point.

His awards have been plentiful.  Aghrim this season was picked first team All-CACC and CoSIDA Academic All-District, both for a second straight year in addition to being tabbed CCA first team all-region.  The CoSIDA Academic All-America honorees will be announced later this month

Among his many athletic accomplishments, Aghrim is first in the nation with 15 assists.  That total places him tied for the school's single-season record with Matt DiGiacobbe, who established the mark in 2003.

Aghrim also is eighth in the country with 0.65 assists per game, 10th with 37 points, third in the conference with 11 goals and recorded a point in 15 contests.  A creative player in many facets, Aghrim enters his senior campaign third in school history with 24 assists, fifth with 58 points and sixth with 17 goals.

Goldey-Beacom (17-5-1, 9-2-1 CACC) this season captured its second CACC title and competed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.  The squad upended 10th-ranked Merrimack in the first round, becoming the College's first male team to win a head-to-head NCAA Tournament game.

GBC also broke the school record for most victories overall and in conference before playing on a national stage for the first time since competing in the 2002 NAIA National Tournament.  The Lightning also had a 10-game unbeaten streak (9-0-1) and a four-game shutout streak that both are school records.

Aghrim was not the only one feted with awards from the men's soccer unit.  Junior goalkeeper Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) was picked CACC Goalkeeper of the Year, first team all-league, the CACC Top XVI Award winner, CoSIDA Academic All-District and October's CACC Student-Athlete of the Month.  Senior defender Declyn Brown (Glasgow, Scotland) was named first team all-league and second team CCA All-Region.  Senior midfielder Mateus Silvestre (Picarras, Brazil) was picked first team all-league, senior defender Cameron Wilkinson (Terrigal, Australia) was tabbed CoSIDA Academic All-District and freshman midfielder Nicholas Ladeira (Johannesburg, South Africa) was named the CACC Tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
