Goldey-Beacom freshman Alanna Speaks (Wilmington, DE) has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, sophomore Amanda McGrogan (Mount Laurel, NJ) was picked to the Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll and junior Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ) was selected to the Men's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll.

Speaks notched her first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to go with four 3-pointers and four assists Saturday in Goldey-Beacom's 82-60 triumph over Wilmington (DE).

Speaks has shown lots of potential in her young career, averaging 5.3 points and 3.2 rebounds over his first 10 games.  She made a quick transition from soccer after being picked CACC Rookie of the Year, first team all-league and second team CCA All-Region in helping GBC (12-5-2, 8-3-1 CACC) reach the conference semifinals.

McGrogan scored 14 of her season-high 17 points in the first half and canned four of her season-best five 3-pointers in the stanza on Saturday.  This effort helped the Lightning open a 47-31 halftime lead en route to their 16th victory in their last 17 meetings with the Wildcats.

Off to another strong start at guard after averaging 5.8 points a season ago, McGrogan is second in the league with a .462 three-point percentage and 27th with 9.8 points per game.

Taite averaged 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals over two games in addition to shooting 11-for-14 from the line.  He scored 19 points Wednesday in going 9-for-11 from the line with six rebounds, five assists and two steals in Goldey-Beacom's 84-76 win at Millersville.  Taite also had 10 points, four rebounds, four steals and two assists Saturday vs. Wilmington (DE).

Taite, who makes his third appearance on the Weekly Honor Roll, continues to make an impact and climb the record books.  He moved into 15th place in school history with 798 career points, went into a ninth-place tie at 195 assists, moved into sixth place with 208 free throws and is sixth with 126 steals.

The men's squad is on the road Wednesday to visit Pace.  The women are home Saturday against New York Tech at 4:00 pm, which precedes the men's 6:00 pm contest against Adelphi.
