Shelby Murphy Picked to CACC Weekly Honor Roll

Goldey-Beacom freshman Justin Hill (Seaford, DE) has been picked the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week, Brandon Abdul (Old Bridge, NJ) was tabbed to the sport's Weekly Honor Roll and fellow sophomore Shelby Murphy (Laurel, DE) was named to the Softball Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Hill batted .385 (5-for-13) with a triple, a homer and six RBI.  He went 2-for-4 Friday in game one at Chestnut Hill with two RBI and a home run.  Hill also had a hit in each of the three remaining games on the week, including a three-run triple in game one Saturday vs. Post.
 
Abdul got the first victory in team history, striking out seven over six innings and yielding three unearned runs Friday in Goldey-Beacom's 14-3 triumph over Chestnut Hill.
 
Murphy batted .429 (9-for-21) last week with a double, triple, two RBI and went 6-for-6 on stolen bases.  She went a combined 4-for-8 in Saturday's doubleheader sweep of Felician, including a two-run triple in game one and four stolen bases in game two.  Murphy also had three hits in game one Sunday against Mercy.
 
The softball team is home Tuesday against Mansfield at 2:00 pm and the baseball squad is on the road Wednesday at Philadelphia U., starting at 1:00 pm.
