Goldey-Beacom's inaugural Division II baseball season did not go without awards as junior Raul Perez-Duran (Trenton, NJ) was picked second team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

Perez-Duran, who earned the honor as a utility player/pitcher, was one of the key figures for the Lightning in 2017.  He ended 28th in the conference with a .299 batting average, 22nd with 43 hits, 38th with a .389 slugging percentage, 53rd with 19 runs, 64th with a .340 on-base percentage and sixth on the team with 18 strikeouts on the mound.

A versatile player who would benefit any club, Perez-Duran this year led the team by starting at seven different positions.  Among his 44 starts that were tied for third on the team included 25 in the outfield.

Perez-Duran also had a trio of three-hit games to end second on the team and recorded a seven-game hitting streak that was tied for fourth on the squad.

Goldey-Beacom (10-35, 5-17 CACC) had an impressive first season under coach Tom Riley after the program was introduced in the fall of 2015.  The squad played its first game as a Division II member February 18 at Barton, its first home game March 5 against Queens (NY), notched its first victory March 24 at Chestnut Hill and its first doubleheader sweep April 21 against Chestnut Hill.
