Goldey-Beacom Places Six Among the CACC Weekly Honorees

Goldey-Beacom's outstanding performances on the field once again resulted in weekly awards from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with six being honored.
 
Alanna Speaks (Wilmington, DE) was named Women's Soccer Player and Rookie of the Week for a second straight week with junior Marta Lopez (Valencia, Spain) named Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this year.  Freshman Fredrika Regner (Langaryd, Sweden) was tabbed Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week with sophomore Anna Hortelano Pey (Castelldefels, Spain) named to the Weekly Honor Roll, Breanne Haley (Elkton, MD) was picked Volleyball's Rookie of the Week a second time and junior Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany) was named to the Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Speaks continued her amazing start, ending with three goals over two games.  No goal was bigger than the one Saturday at Felician, scoring with 57 seconds left for her second of the match and league-leading sixth of the year in a huge 2-1 Goldey-Beacom win.  Speaks also scored Tuesday in the Lightning's 4-0 win over Chestnut Hill.
 
Lopez went 2-0 last week, making three saves over 168 minutes.  She made one save over 78 minutes Tuesday against Chestnut Hill and then had two Saturday at Felician.
 
The women's side (5-0-1, 4-0 CACC) continues on its best overall and conference starts in school history, outscoring its opponents 16-6 and only twice allowing more than one goal.  The women are on the road Wednesday at Wilmington (DE) for a 4:00 pm start.
 
Regner went 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles.  She notched two victories at fourth singles in straight sets and one at No. 2 singles in straights.  In doubles, she teamed with Hortelano Pey for three wins and only lost three games.
 
Hortelano Pey also went 3-0 in both singles and doubles, teaming with Regner for the aforementioned doubles results.  In singles, she notched a trio of straight set wins and dropped just five games at third singles.
 
GBC (3-0, 2-0) is the reigning league champion and has won 11 straight CACC regular-season conference matches dating to 2015.  It is on the road Tuesday at Jefferson for a noon match in Philadelphia.
 
Haley ended last week with 74 kills, 71 digs and three double-doubles over five matches.  She notched 21 kills and 20 digs Tuesday at East Stroudsburg before getting 24 and 15 the next night at Chestnut Hill.  Haley also had 13 kills and 14 digs Saturday at Kutztown.
 
GBC is on the road Tuesday at Holy Family for a 7:00 pm match.
 
Aghrim ended with two goals and two assists over two games last week.  He scored twice an added an assist Wednesday in Goldey-Beacom's 5-1 victory over Chestnut Hill.  Aghrim also had an assist Saturday in a tough loss at Felician.
 
Goldey-Beacom (4-2, 2-1) is on the road Tuesday at Wilmington for a 4:00 pm contest in Newark.
