More awards made its way to Pike Creek with junior Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ) picked the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week and senior Britani Bryson (Hampton, VA) tabbed the Women Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.

Taite averaged 22.5 points on 16-of-34 shooting, 5.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 3.5 steals and 3.0 three-pointers over two games.  He scored 25 points Wednesday on 9-of-14 shooting with four 3-pointers, four steals and three rebounds in Goldey-Beacom's 80-67 win at Felician.  Taite also had 20 points, nine assists, eight rebounds, three steals and two 3-pointers Saturday against Bloomfield.

Taite continues to be no stranger to the national rankings.  He is 11th in the country with 39 steals, 23rd with 2.29 steals per game, 35th with 84 free throws, 40th with 590 minutes, 46th with 326 points, 75th with 19.2 points per contest and 75th with just 34.7 minutes per game.

It is Taite's second honor this season as the league's Player of the Week in addition to making the Weekly Honor Roll five times.  He also needs 19 points to become the 10th player in team history to reach 1,000 career.

Taite also has had a major say regarding the Lightning's nationally ranked defense.  The unit is third in the country with 21.41 forced turnovers per game, sixth with 168 steals, seventh with a 5.5 turnover ratio and eighth with 9.9 steals per contest.

Bryson averaged 13.0 points on 8-of-18 shooting, 12.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 2.5 steals over two games with two double-doubles.  She had 10 points and 14 rebounds Wednesday before blocking a potential game-winning shot just before the buzzer in Goldey-Beacom's 48-47 win at Felician.  Bryson then came back with 16 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks Saturday vs. Bloomfield.

Bryson also is among the nation's best by sitting 43rd with 153 rebounds, 74th with 9.0 rebounds per game, 76th with 23 blocks, 89th with 94 baskets and 96th with a .475 field-goal percentage.

It is Bryson's first such nod on the season in addition to being picked to the Weekly Honor Roll three times.  Bryson is sixth in school history with 1,336 points, third with 949 rebounds and third with 119 blocks.  She is just 51 rebounds shy of becoming the first player in program history with 1,000 points, 1000 rebounds and 100 blocks.

Both squads are home Tuesday for CACC South games against Georgian Court.  The women's game is at 6:00 pm and the men follow at 8:00 pm.
