Alanna Speaks Named to CACC Women’s Hoops Weekly Honor Roll

Goldey-Beacom freshman Alanna Speaks (Wilmington, DE) has been named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll.

It is Speaks' first such honor this winter in addition to being tabbed the league's Rookie of the Week on December 11. During the fall with soccer, she was named CACC Rookie of the Week three times, CACC Player of the Week twice, a member of the CACC Weekly Honor Roll once, CACC Rookie of the Year, first team all-conference and second team all-region.

Her play helped the soccer team close fourth in the CACC, advance to the conference semifinals and close the year 12-5-2. Speaks scored the overtime goal in the quarterfinals against fifth-seeded Jefferson for GBC's first conference-tournament win since 2005.

Speaks on Saturday ended with 14 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and three assists at Post.

Making an immediate impact since joining the team almost a month into the team's preseason practice, Speaks is 21st in the league with 25 three-pointers, 27th with a .260 three-point percentage, 33rd with a 1.0 assist-to-turnover-ratio, 55th with 3.8 rebounds per game and 66th with 6.5 points per contest.

Goldey-Beacom is home Tuesday against Chestnut Hill at 6:00 pm, which precedes the men's contest at 8:00 pm.
