Five for Goldey-Beacom Picked for Weekly CACC Awards

It was a more than busy week for Goldey-Beacom, which saw five of its student-athletes named to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Awards.
 
Alanna Speaks (Wilmington, DE) was picked the Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, senior Britani Bryson (Hampton, VA) was named to the sport's Weekly Honor Roll, freshman Marcellus Livingston (Linden, NJ) was tabbed to the Men's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll with junior Brandon Abdul (Old Bridge, NJ) and senior Jay Smith (Zeeland, MI) picked to Baseball's Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Speaks averaged 12.0 points on 9-of-18 shooting over two games.  She scored 15 points Saturday on 5-of-10 shooting with six rebounds in Goldey-Beacom's 82-63 triumph at Wilmington (DE).
 
It is the second time this season she has been named Rookie of the Week, in addition to her three such picks for Women's Soccer.
 
Bryson averaged 18.0 points on 14-of-25 shooting and 14.0 rebounds over two games with seven blocks, five assists and two steals.  She went on a tear in her final game with 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting and a season-best 20 rebounds Saturday at Wilmington (DE).  Bryson also had 15 points and eight rebounds Wednesday vs. Jefferson.
 
Livingston averaged 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals over two games with seven 3-pointers.  He poured in 19 points with six rebounds, four assists and three steals in Goldey-Beacom's 76-65 victory Wednesday over Jefferson.  Livingston then had 16 points, six rebounds and four 3-pointers Saturday his squad's 79-71 triumph at Wilmington (DE).
 
Abdul struck out five over seven innings, allowing just one run and two hits Saturday in Goldey-Beacom's 7-1 victory at Chowan.  It was the first game of the series in which the Lightning finished 2-1-1.
 
Smith batted .462 (7-of-16) over four games with two home runs, a double and four RBI.  He had three hits with two RBI and a home run in game one of Sunday's doubleheader at Chowan.
