A strong month in a championship season for Goldey-Beacom freshman Catarina Zheng (Oporto, Portugal) enabled her to be named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Tennis Monthly Honor Roll.

Zheng in April went 4-1 at second singles and 3-2 in first doubles.  She got three of her singles victories in straight sets, including a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Kristel Kalm from Concordia (NY) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.  Zheng and freshman Lotte Lesscher y Post (Arnhem, Netherlands) gutted out a 9-8 triumph over regionally ranked Queens (NY) and then got an 8-2 victory over perennial power West Chester.

It was a more than impressive debut season for Zheng, who amassed a team-best 18-3 singles record that included 14-2 at No. 2 and 16-6 at doubles which included 13-5 at No. 1.  She was named first team all-conference, a member of the CACC All-Tournament team and is ranked ninth in the region in singles.

Zheng advanced to the ITA East Region quarterfinals and, along with Lesscher y Post, played in the doubles semifinals.  Zheng's singles victories are one shy of the team's single-season mark and her doubles wins have her tied for second.

Goldey-Beacom (16-3, 8-0 CACC) had yet another standout campaign in which it won the CACC title for a second straight year and clinched its seventh trip to the NCAA Tournament.  The Lightning were ranked as high of 36th in the country, are presently 40th in the nation and entered postseason first in the region.

The squad was the top seed in the CACC Tournament for the second straight year, has won 17 consecutive regular-season league matches dating to 2015, appeared in the conference final in back-to-back years for the first time since going three straight seasons from 2009-11 and its 12-0 start is the best in team history.

The Lightning also received a first-round bye in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in team history and competed in the second round for a third time in the last four years.
