Senior Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ) has received a bevy of awards during his time with Goldey-Beacom and today got another in being tabbed second team Conference Commissioner's Association Men's Basketball All-East Region.

Taite all season continued to show his prowess as one of the nation's top players after being picked first team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and to the league's All-Tournament Team, both for a second straight year.  He has consistently demonstrated his skills as a strong shooter, passer and defender, all of which will be missed.  This honor comes one year after he was picked the CACC Player of the Year, first team All-East Region by both the CCA and NABC in addition to making the league's All-Tournament Team.

The stats again prove this.  Taite is 43rd in the nation with 20.5 points per game, 17th with an .899 free throw percentage, 18th with 161 free throws, 52nd with 574 points, 62nd with 35.5 minutes per game, 72th with 1.82 steals per contest, 75th with 51 steals and 96th with a 1.95 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Taite scored in double figures 26 times this season, including a season-best 40 points against Caldwell in the CACC quarterfinals, and netted at least 20 points 14 times.  He also poured in at least 35 points on four occasions, including that amount in the regular-season finale against Wilmington (DE) to help Goldey-Beacom clinch second place.

As a result of yet another standout campaign, Taite was on the Top 100 Watch List for the Bevo Francis Award.  This honor is given to the top men's college basketball player in the country not in Division I.

Taite graduates among the Lightning's statistical leaders and likely will be on the list for many years.  He is first in team history with 1,810 points, first with 377 assists, first with 479 free throws, first with 211 three-pointers, first with 560 field goals, second with 218 steals, second with a .399 three-point percentage and fifth with 531 rebounds.

All of this has been valuable for Goldey-Beacom (15-15, 12-7 CACC), which closed second in the CACC South Division and advanced to the conference semifinals for the second straight year.  GBC opened the season against three opponents (Bentley, Saint Anselm and Saint Thomas Aquinas) who all were nationally ranked at some point and then defeated regionally ranked Bridgeport, 104-87, in the fourth game of the campaign.
