Goldey-Beacom once again made a strong showing at the College's annual Honors Day with 20 of its student athletes presented with various awards.
Â
These student-athletes received various awards based on the work in their majors. They also are among the 39 student-athletes who this year were picked to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Academic Honor Roll.
Â
Leading the way is women's soccer senior Cliona Crammond (Wicklow, Ireland), who was named second team Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-America, third team CCA All-America, first team All-CACC, first team CCA All-East region, Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District and a repeat member of the CACC All-Tournament Team. She was presented the Fulmer Award, given for recognition of outstanding leadership and accomplishment in any college-related endeavor.
Â
Also on this list is men's basketball senior Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ), the 2018 CACC Player of the Year, 2019 first team All-CACC pick, 2018 first team all-region selection and 2019 second team all-region honoree. He was presented the Miller Award, awarded in recognition of personal growth, scholarship, maturity, service to the college, evidence of good citizenship, humility and initiative.
Â
The Entrepreneurship Club was cited as the College's Student Organization of the Year. The club provides a conduit by which students can access relevant entrepreneurial resources and network with prominent community entrepreneurs and faculty to share innovative ideas. Student-athletes on that list include men's soccer senior Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany), cross country/track & field senior Jono Hooper (Brisbane, Australia), cross country/track & field sophomore Cara Jones (Wilmington, DE), men's soccer freshman Elijah Howe (Canberra, Australia), volleyball junior Autumn Keller (Quarryville, PA), women's soccer senior Lauren Larmanis (Sicklerville, NJ) and track & field freshman Mohammad Qureshi (Wilmington, DE).
Â
The Lightning in the fall semester saw 13 of their student-athletes notch a 4.0 GPA for the semester (the same number as the fall of 2017) and had 65 percent of their student-athletes end with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. GBC also sports a 3.198 GPA among its student-athletes, higher than the College's GPA among non student-athletes.
