11/20/2020 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom's student-athletes got a major treat by receiving quality advice on so many levels from Jessica Saxon, a three-time medalist for the United States Weightlifting Team.

Saxon discussed her training regimen, how she constantly improves her work ethic and how she develops her mental toughness.  The power of thought also was discussed and how it impacts both her preparation and game-day mentality.

Saxon also looked at how she has learned from her failures and how that can be a lesson.  The mindfulness aspect also is important and she talked about how all of us need to be students of our own brain.

Finally, she discussed nutrition and her role as a nutrition coach with many clients.  She talked about protein intake, proper recovery and what you overall intake should be based on your body weight.

"It was a great opportunity to have Jessica Saxon speak with our athletes," Senior Woman Administrator/Assistant Director of Athletics/Women's Basketball Coach Bethann Burke said.   "Being an elite level athlete, the information she shared was invaluable for our students."

Saxon in 2018 was a silver medalist at the 2018 and 2019 national championships in addition to winning bronze at the 2017 nationals.  The 2019 American Open Final champion also serves as a CrossFit Level 2 trainer.

By day, Saxon is a deputy attorney general for the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General.  This after serving as an Assistant Prosecutor in the Salem County Prosecutor's Office and a clerk in Salem, NJ.  She received her Juris Doctor from Rutgers after graduating both from New England Law in Boston and Saint Anselm College.
