Goldey-Beacom again demonstrated its high level of excellence in the classroom with 37 student-athletes presented a Division II Academic Achievement Award by the Athletic Director Association.
Â
The award goes to a student-athlete in the 2021-22 academic year who recorded at least a 3.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale and has completed at least four semesters at that school.
Â
"We are very proud of the academic success of our student-athletes," Associate Director of Athletics for Academic Excellence/Senior Woman Administrator/Head Women's Basketball Coach Bethann Burke said. "These students have displayed dedication, commitment and focus to their academic success.  They are great leaders and role models to our college community."
Â
Baseball led the way with eight student-athletes and that was paced by junior baseball catcher Marshall Awtry (Hockessin, DE), whose academic prowess helped him to be named CoSIDA Academic All-District. He also was tabbed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Year and first team All-East Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and the Conference Commissioner's Association (CCA).  He also is a two-time member CACC Academic Honor Roll.
Â
Women's Basketball was next on the list with six student-athletes, followed by women's tennis with four.
