Goldey-Beacom's Women's Tennis success this fall saw junior Zehra Canbaz (Denizli, Turkiye) and freshman Sofia Lopez (Bogota, Colombia) named first team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with Bernard Flowers Tabbed Coach of the Year.

Canbaz has been one the squad's focal players this season, notching an 8-3 singles record that includes 6-3 at No. 2 singles and 8-3 at doubles that includes 5-2 at No. 2.  She notched seven of her singles victories in straight sets and had four-match winning streaks this season both in singles and doubles.

Canbaz already has eclipsed her best winning total in doubles, having won seven last season.  She now is at 23 career singles wins and 20 doubles victories.

Lopez is off to an outstanding start, owning an 11-0 singles mark that includes 9-0 at fifth singles and an 8-3 doubles mark with all at No. 1.  Ten of her singles wins were in straight sets and four were "double bagels."

Lopez needs just five more singles wins this season to reach the school's single-season top-10 list.

Flowers, in his fourth season, has done an outstanding job in bringing the program back to relevance.  The Lightning (8-3, 7-3 CACC) have their best conference finish and already their highest win total since 2019-20, when they played in the CACC final.

Goldey-Beacom secured the No. 2 seed for this weekend's CACC Tournament and will face third-seeded Chestnut Hill in the semifinals, beginning at 1:00 pm.  The event will be played at Delcastle Tennis Center, home of the Lightning, and the final is Sunday at noon with the champion earning an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
