Goldey-Beacom Again Takes Part in the NCAA Diversity and Inclusion Week

10/18/2024 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom College Athletics for the sixth straight year participated in the NCAA's Diversity and Inclusion Week Social Media Campaign, which ran from October 15-17.  Each day of the social media series highlighted our student-athletes and shares the impact in the community, classroom and in their sports.

"We are very proud of our diverse student-athlete population," Director of Athletics Jeremy Benoit said.  "We have tremendous racial and global representation across our 275-student-athlete body, which I believe has proven to be open and inclusive to people from all backgrounds, belief systems and life experiences.  We have additionally made great strides to ensure that our staff is increasingly representative and supportive of our institutional diversity."

Day one's theme was "Who Am I": an aspect of your identity and how it contributes to who you are.  Day's two's theme was "Leveling the Playing Field": what your student-athletes, administrators and school are doing to level the playing field for student-athletes, coaches and administrators holding historically underserved identities.  Day three's theme was "One Step Forward": develop and share action steps on how you will strive to improve your individual and collective efforts toward inclusion and belonging.

The NCAA started the Diversity and Inclusion Social Media Campaign as a means to be a week of awareness, education and engagement showing the importance of inclusive environments in college sports.
