Goldey-Beacom Sees Three More on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll

Goldey-Beacom received more good news on the awards front with freshman Sofia Lopez (Bogota, Colombia) picked to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Tennis Weekly Honor Roll, sophomore John Ferry (Rising Sun, MD) named to the Men's Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll and senior Izzy Popoff (Cicero, NY) tabbed to the Women's Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Lopez got three victories on the week, including two Saturday in Goldey-Beacom's huge 4-3 win over Jefferson.  She posted a 6-0, 6-4 victory at fifth singles over Anna Morgillo after teaming with senior Elizabeth Mova (Sevastopol, Ukraine) for a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles over Nicole Hrbkova and Alycia Veroux.
 
It has been a remarkable start for Lopez, who already is 4-0 at singles and 3-1 at doubles.  She only has lost one set in singles and three of her wins have only seen her lose a combined five games.
 
Ferry closed second in the Delaware Invitational that included topping many Division I athletes and many from the CACC.  He finished the eight-kilometer race in 28:13.2.
 
It has been an exceptional season to date for Ferry, who won the Philadelphia Cross Classic at Belmont Plateau.  The challenging Philadelphia course is the site of next month's CACC Championships.
 
Popoff ended 33rd at the Delaware Invitational, closing in 22:05.3.
 
Making an immediate impact in the lineup, Popoff finished 26th in her season-opening race at the Philadelphia Cross Classic.
