Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Records 90-84 Win Over Georgian Court

A thrilling contest that surprisingly only featured five lead changes saw Goldey-Beacom take the lead late and notch a 90-84 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win over Georgian Court at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

Anthony Gooden canned a 3-pointer for the Lions that brought them to a 71-71 tie with 4:07 remaining.  The game that featured a great deal of offensive fireworks would stay deadlocked for over a minute.

That was until senior David Robinson (Philadelphia, PA) changed that, making a layup with 2:56 to go for a 73-71 game.  Freshman Anthony Akande (Newark, NJ) followed with a thunderous dunk 33 seconds later for a four-point contest.

GBC held a 75-73 margin with just over a minute left and needed a score.  Akande came through by canning a 3-pointer from the left corner with 60 seconds remaining for a five-point margin.

The Lightning then resorted to foul the Lions' Cam Edmonds and continue his awesome night from the floor.  He did hit three times with 23 seconds left for an 82-78 contest, but sophomore Zakari McQueen (Petersburg, VA) canned a pair one second later for a six-point margin that all but ended things.

Robinson scored 22 on 9-of-13 shooting to go with nine rebounds, junior Zayon Marsh (Maplewood, NJ) had 15 and nine, freshman Tre Powell (Mount Laurel, NJ) scored 15 points, Akande had 11 and nine rebounds with junior Shane Taylor (Ellicott City, MD) adding 10 points for the Lightning (6-12, 3-4 CACC).

Edmonds was incredible with 48 points on 11-of-22 shooting and was 22-for-28 from the line for the Lions (3-15, 2-5).  Donavin Crawford added 16 points.

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday hosts Bridgeport at 3:00 pm, which follows the 1:00 pm women's contest between the same schools.
