Goldey-Beacom Gets Five More Picked for CACC Weekly Honors

2/24/2025 12:00:00 AM

Another impressive week for Goldey-Beacom saw senior Julie Kulesza (Wilmington, DE) picked Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, senior Alex Lowry (Wenonah, NJ) tabbed Softball Player of the Week, senior Caitlyn Burch (Mechanicsville, MD) picked the sport's Pitcher of the Week with junior Nate Miller (Mechanicsburg, PA) and senior Christian Petrillo (New Brunswick, NJ) named to Baseball's Weekly Honor Roll.

Kulesza scored 30 points on 9-of-18 shooting and was 10-for-12 from the foul line Saturday in Goldey-Beacom's 71-68 upset of No. 20 Holy Family.

In what has been a beyond productive year after playing her first three seasons at Bucknell, Kulesza has the Lightning in prime position of making the conference tournament.  She is sixth in the league with 15.0 points per game, second with a .837 free throw percentage, fifth with a 1.3 assist-to-turnover ratio, seventh with 3.3 assists per contest and 15th with a .415 field goal percentage.

Goldey-Beacom (9-18, 6-9 CACC) goes into its regular-season finale Saturday at Wilmington needing only a victory to clinch the fourth and final conference tournament spot from the South Division.

Lowry batted .667 (4-for-6), including the game-winning single in the eighth inning of game two Saturday against Bloomsburg.  That hit capped Goldey-Beacom's rally from a four-run deficit en route to a 5-4 win.

A four-year standout with the soccer and softball teams, Lowry's play on the diamond has elevated the program and saw her a season ago named second team All-CACC.  An exceptional hitter and fielder primarily in center field, Lowry is second in team history with 21 triples, third with 43 stolen bases, tied for 11th with 140 hits and 21st with a .341 batting average.

Burch got the victory in each game Saturday against Bloomsburg, recording seven strikeouts and no walks over 11 scoreless innings.  She struck out five over seven innings for a three-hit shutout in Goldey-Beacom's 1-0 game-one victory.  Burch then struck out two over four scoreless frames, allowing just three hits in the nightcap.

Named first team all-league last fall with volleyball, Burch this spring is 3-0 with 11 strikeouts and just one walk over 16 innings.  She only has been breached for two runs and nine hits in allowing hitters to bat just .158.

Goldey-Beacom is off to its first 4-0 start at least since 2008 as no season-by-season results exist before then.

Miller struck out six over 6 1/3 innings, allowing just two runs – one earned – in Goldey-Beacom's 6-5 victory Saturday over Kutztown.  He has notched 10 strikeouts over 10 innings this spring, moving into ninth place in team history with 90 strikeouts.

Petrillo batted .800 (4-for-5) over two games with a double.  He went 3-for-3 with a double Sunday against Slippery Rock after getting a hit Saturday vs. Kutztown.  Petrillo is first in team history with 76 stolen bases and tied for fourth with a .315 batting average.
