Two More CACC Weekly Awards Bestowed Upon Softball

3/17/2025 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom saw senior Caitlyn Burch (Mechanicsville, MD) named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for a second time this season and sophomore shortstop McKenna Frank (Oxford, PA) picked to the sport's Weekly Honor Roll.

Burch went 2-0 with 40 strikeouts and just three runs allowed over 19 2/3 innings.  She had an astounding 16 strikeouts over eight innings Monday, yielding just two runs and a walk in Goldey-Beacom's 3-2 victory over Gannon.  Burch also had seven strikeouts Wednesday vs. Ferris State, nine in game one Saturday against Caldwell and eight in the nightcap.

It what already has been an amazing start, Burch has been a valuable addition to the squad in her lone season for the Lightning.  She already has 76 strikeouts, which puts her 10th on the school's single-season list.  Her nine wins are just two off the top-10 list for one year and one away from becoming the 21st in program annals to reach double figures.

She is 42nd in the country in strikeouts and first in the CACC in victories.  She has notched at least six strikeouts in each of her last six appearances.

Frank batted .500 (7-for-14) on the week with two doubles and three RBI.  She had a hit in five of the Lightning's six games, going 3-for-3 with a double Wednesday against West Chester.

Off to another strong start, Frank had a five-game hitting streak earlier this season and has three multi-hit contests.  Last year, she started all 46 games in closing third in the conference with 16 doubles and seventh with 62 hits.

Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday visits Wilmington for a 2:30 pm doubleheader in New Castle, DE.
