Caitlyn Burch Named to the NFCA Pitcher of the Year Watchlist

Goldey-Beacom senior Caitlyn Burch (Mechanicsville, MD), who has been an electrifying player to watch in the circle, today was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Pitcher of the Year Watchlist.

Burch is one of four players listed for the East Region and one of three from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

A dynamic addition in her lone season for the Navy Blue and Vegas Gold, Burch has been a major reason for the Lightning's strong campaign. She already this season has notched 86 strikeouts over 81 2/3 innings, notching a 10-2 record with two saves.

Burch is 52nd in the country in strikeouts (second in the CACC), first in the league with 10 victories and first in innings pitched. This included 16 strikeouts March 10 against Gannon and recording at least six strikeouts six times.

Her strikeouts are tied for seventh in school history for one year and her victories are just outside the top 10.

Including four seasons at Mary Washington, Burch has recorded 546 career strikeouts.

All of this sees Goldey-Beacom (18-9, 4-4 CACC) once again having an exceptional season, looking to reach the CACC Tournament a third straight year for the first time in almost two decades. The Lightning pace the CACC with 159 strikeouts and opponents are hitting just .245, second in the league.

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday visits Dominican (NY) for a 5:00 pm doubleheader in Garnerville, NY.
