No. 49 Women's Tennis' Elizabeth Mova and Sofia Lopez Win CACC Monthly Awards

4/10/2025 12:00:00 AM

An outstanding spring campaign for No. 49 Goldey-Beacom went a long way in seeing senior Elizabeth Mova (Sevastopol, Ukraine) being named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Month and freshman Sofia Lopez (Bogota, Colombia) tabbed the league's Rookie of the Month.

Mova went 4-0 in singles with three matches at first singles and 3-1 in doubles, including 2-1 at No. 1 doubles.  She notched two of her singles triumphs in dropping a combined one game and the remaining two in tiebreaks.

Named second team All-CACC in 2023, Mova this season is on a six-match winning streak in singles and has a 9-5 record mostly playing No. 1 singles.  She is 13-4 in doubles, including 8-3 at No. 1 doubles.

Lopez went 1-1 in singles during the month and 2-1 in doubles.  She had a 12-match winning streak for the academic year before moving up to No. 4 singles and notched a victory at No. 1 doubles.

An outstanding addition, Lopez last fall was picked first team All-CACC after going 11-0 in singles and 8-3 in doubles.  Ten of her singles wins were in straight sets and four were "double bagels."

Goldey-Beacom (13-4, 7-3 CACC) is 5-0 in the spring after a standout fall in which it played in the CACC Tournament semifinals.  This also marked the fifth time in the last eight seasons the Lightning played in the CACC Tournament.

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday hosts Indiana (PA) at 1:00 pm.
