Women's Soccer Shut Out By Jefferson

Goldey-Beacom College fell to Jefferson University, 3-0, on the road Tuesday in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match.

Jefferson opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Jalina Gonzalez found the back of the net off an assist from Sophia Henry. The Rams added to their lead just before halftime, with Isa Geoghan scoring in the 44th minute off a pass from Erika Murphy. Kyra Lesko extended Jefferson's lead early in the second half, scoring in the 48th minute, to secure the victory.

Sophomore Maria Empadinhas (Cascais, Portugal) made nine saves for the Lightning and Jefferson's Carly Hayman recorded two . The Rams held a 20-4 advantage in shots. Junior Jessica Jensen (Las Vegas, NV) led the Lightning with two shots with freshman Tori Reed (North East, MD) and senior Miley Jones (Pemberton, NJ) each recording one.

The Lightning move to 1-1 in conference play and return to action Saturday at Caldwell University for a 1:30 pm match.
