Goldey-Beacom got its turn to be highlighted with the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference resuming its Spring Spotlight series.
In looking at the spring sports that only had a partial 2020 season, softball senior Kasey Goshorn (Salisbury, MD) and baseball sophomore Marshall Awtry (Hockessin, DE) each were highlighted for their tremendous starts to the campaign.
Goshorn was off to yet another strong start as one of four for the Lightning to start all eight contests. A solid presence at first base and one of the league's top hitters, she was fifth in the CACC with a .435 batting average, fourth with a .609 slugging percentage, fourth with a .519 on-base percentage and 19th with 10 hits.
She recorded a hit in all eight contests, including two each against Seton Hill and Millersville, and homered against Kutztown.
Goshorn is tied for seventh in team history with five home runs, 18th with a .317 batting average and 28th with 103 hits. She is eligible to return as the NCAA granted a waiver for all spring student-athletes.
Awtry was just getting started in what looked like would be an outstanding campaign at designated hitter and catcher. Starting all 14 games he competed in this season, it comes one year after he played in 34 contests with 33 starts.
His season proved to be a solid one in sitting fourth in the league with a .479 on-base percentage, fourth with a .615 slugging percentage, sixth with a .359 batting average, sixth with four doubles, seventh with 14 hits and 19th with three stolen bases.
Awtry is tied for fifth in team history with five home runs, sixth outright with a .284 batting average, seventh with 49 assists and tied for ninth with 153 putouts.
