Goldey-Beacom rallied to grab the final two sets to defeat Post, 3-2, on the road Friday in Waterbury, CT.
Post took the opening set, 25-18, but the Lightning answered in the second with a dominant 25-14 victory to even the match. The Eagles (2-13, 1-3 CACC) regained the lead in the third, beating Goldey-Beacom, 25-23. The Lightning once again responded in the fourth, using a strong offensive performance to cruise to a 25-14 win and force a deciding fifth set. Goldey-Beacom (11-3, 3-1) carried that momentum into the final set, closing the match, 15-7.
Senior Baylee Brin (Salina, KS) had 12 kills with sophomore Gabi Fullwood (Powder Springs, GA) and senior Kloë Waymel (Mulhouse, France) adding nine apiece.
Junior Juliana Malena (Miami, FL) paced the offense with 22 assists, five aces and 12 digs. Sophomore Ashley Fru (Brandywine, MD) contributed 11 assists, 14 digs and two aces.
Junior Brianna Anderson (Mesa, AZ) led Goldey-Beacom defensively with 29 digs and sophomore Kelci Gingras (Orem, UT) added 14.
Goldey-Beacom returns to action Tuesday, hosting Georgian Court at the Jones Center for a 6:00 pm match.
